Reading a book or two each day for fifteen thousand days and beyond and beyond is most rewarding for the repeatedly delicious encounters with the distinct commonalities of our best role models.
Welcome to the largest healthiest prettiest web site on earth,
There is no doubt that duplication of a previously successful method -- sometimes referred to as a "recipe" -- provides the human race with definitive, powerful shortcuts. Duplication of the best information gleaned through some sixteen thousand books has demonstrated consistent productivity... in a dozen separate ways. That means being useful to you, fast, potently, and with astonishing results.
In as little as 24 hours or 24 minutes, every single human task has shortcuts. Shortcuts are harder to find when you are the pioneer. Once you succeed at high levels, those who follow can precisely trace your footsteps and end up at the same destination. For THESE people, your methods, your pathways, even your words and gestures, are identifiable, finite shortcuts of power.
These shortcuts, referred to as "PowerGems," work approximately 100 percent of the time.
Yes, you read that correctly,
Approximately 100 percent of the time.
Even when it appears that there are no shortcuts for those pave the way, everyone after that has precise shortcuts on what works, and what doesn't work, saving the time, effort, and expense of trial and error. Recipes work. The good news is, someone has already accomplished whatever it is you most want to do in your life.
No one says you have to set world-class goals, just goals that are clearer and more written than the ones you now claim to have in your head.
Listen, this is your life. Mine ended before its time and still it's fair to state that no less than ten thousand days were spent actively involved in pursuing more than a hundred of my favorite activities, from winning dance contests or writing a dozen songs including my first two concertos, to breaking sales records at company after company after company. I heard someone describe to me his experience calling for a reference on me. He'd asked the de facto chief of Slomin's Oil about my tenure as a Manager of Corporate Telemarketing, with responsibility for a division larger than many companies' entire work force. After listening to the former employer expel a minute and more of vitriol with respect to me, the caller interrupted and asked, "Ok, and how were his sales numbers?" to which the decamillionaire replied, "Oh, he broke every record we had." It's YOUR life, and you can look back on it blandly, or look back on your life as a life of action and really great quality sleep as a result of knowing the passions of pursuing magnificent dreams.
Instead of waiting until Knowing I'd develop wealth long before my old age, and mostly because great teachers empowered my ability to see more value in running faster rather than owning a dog who could run faster, I decided to take my retirement in chunks throughout my youth.
As a result of the unusual circumstances of my upbringing, that extended youth ended up lasting about 19 additional years. After breaking records at numerous careers, I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. More accurately, I do not know for sure what I wanted to be had I been given a chance to grow up. Thankfully, many exciting dreams and adventures, goals and journeys were embarked upon. What a blast it has been!
Having personally interviewed and/or broken bread with more than five thousand and two hundred masters, millionaires, champions and billionaires, it's thrilling to be able to report to you that there really are astoundingly powerful shortcuts that bring you fast faster hyper-accelerated results. There has never once been any stated, proven exception to this rule. Never! NEVER MIND the so-called "art of success." That is meant for those with artistic flair AND desire to express those artistic inclinations.
For everyone else, the "science of success" should suffice. Science has shown us that repeating steps (experiment) precisely the same way (control) many times over will inevitably produce either identical or similar results. From the chocolate chip cookie recipe or the written instructions to get to that new address on your list of job interviews; from the written blueprints of your house to the written list of who to invite and what to feed them at your wedding, this is the science of success, the "Shortcuts Way of Living."
Stop telling yourself what you "coulda woulda shoulda" done. Shut up.
By closing your mouth and opening your eyes, ears, nose and mind, you will understand that there's no ego or braggadocio in identifying your many skills and your many contacts in writing. You DO have skills, some are measurably better than others. Whether you use the Napoleon Hill method of taking your single worst trait and making it into your money-making best trait, as did Phyllis Diller with her lousy hair, RoseAnn Barr with her habitual verbal abuse of everyone she encountered -- both of these ladies earned happiness and hundred-million dollar fortunes after many years of being miserable and broke.
This year, this month, this week, this day, and this next hour is yours, Sweetheart. Yours.
It's your turn to identify what would make you the happiest, and then do what the famed and final Lubavitcher Rebbe used to say: "Talk less, do more."
Never mind being sorry for the things you've done. Better you should focus on what you haven't yet done.
By a huge margin, among the consistent majority of sharp-minded, active elderly people and those listening to their arteries harden whom I've spoken with or otherwise interviewed, the biggest regrets reported might surprise you...
Again and again and again you hear the regrets are not for things done, rather, for the things they never did, never even tried to do.
Go for yours. Whether your sweetest, most yearned-for desires involve gorgeous members of the opposite sex or tinkling on the piano (takes only one lesson, then a measly fifty to one hundred hours of practice to be able to sing and play thousands of songs and to create your own.
